I grew up in eastern Kentucky in a family that hunted, fished, hiked, and camped regularly. Although I moved to Ohio to become a teacher and a writer, I continue to enjoy outdoor sports, especially fly fishing. I am a member of the Ohio Writer’s Guild, where I shared an essay I had written on one of my favorite sports, fly fishing. My fellow writers encouraged me to submit the essay for publication. To my delight, I discovered that I could combine two of my favorite things: outdoor sports and writing. My outdoor articles have appeared often in Ohio Valley Outdoors magazine and Ohio Game & Fish, and I am an active member of the Outdoor Writers of Ohio. My interests in conservation include serving as a trustee for The Ohio Smallmouth Alliance. I am also a Certified Fishing Instructor and an experienced public speaker. Through Suite 101, I am able to share my outdoor experiences with my readers. I hope that they enjoy my writing and that they discover for themselves the fun and excitement of outdoor sports.
